The Viper Room was packed Saturday night for Finnish rockers Santa Cruz. Singer/Guitarist Arttu “Archie” Cruz started out by introducing his new band, which now includes Joe Perez on Lead Guitar, Ero Cruz on bass, and Matthias Cruz on drums.

It was great to hear several brand new songs from their upcoming release Katharsis, as well as the sing-along classics we all know and love. Santa Cruz started their set with a brand new song called Changing of Seasons.

The band was full of energy and you could tell how genuinely happy they all were to be playing The Viper Room on the Sunset Strip. Archie engaged the audience and fed off the excitement from the crowd throughout the set, leading us in a few “Hell yeahs” and “F*ck yeahs,” and getting us to clap and sing along.

They ended with the Stones cover song, Jumpin’ Jack Flash, with the crowd doing just that… Well, not the flashing part. It’s really 2019, even though it felt like we were in 1986.

Make sure to pick up a copy of Katharsis on Friday, October 18th and keep a lookout for Kati Rausch’s interview with Santa Cruz in Music Interview Corner.
