London After Midnight – Knitting Factory – 09/05/08
Written by Alison “MetalBabe” Cohen
London After Midnight’s set contained a variety of songs from their catalog, mixed perfectly with tunes from their latest CD “Violent Acts of Beauty.” This was my 3rd London After Midnight experience, and definitely the BEST. This is yet another time I am really glad to live in Hollywood, since this is their only U.S. show. From here, they are off to Berlin!
Before LAM hit the stage, the screens said, “Something beautiful is coming.” A video intro written by Sean Brennan stated that we were living in a time of despair, our government is corrupt, our media is controlled, but WE have the power. We all need to join forces, take control, and let our voices be heard. It is time for a R/EVOLUTION!
Anticipation set in, as fans, dressed mainly in black, waited for LAM to hit the stage. The drums were far to the right, and the only video screen on the left. Peter Pace, Randy Mathias and Matthew Setzer took their places. Sean Brennan entered the stage last, as they started their set with “Your Best Nightmare.”
The set was absolutely amazing! New songs from “Violent Acts of Beauty” included “Feeling Fascist,” “Nothing’s Sacred,” “Heaven Now,” “Beginning of the End,” “America’s a F***ing Disease,” “Republic” and “Pure.”
During “America,” red, white and blue balloons fell from the ceiling. Fans enjoyed throwing and popping balloons for several songs. In between most songs, Sean would simply say “thank you.”
“Shatter” was very touching, as fans sang along with lyrics “no never again, I’ll never trust no one again….” Their set was intense, moving, and thought provoking. If you are not familiar with London After Midnight, check out their latest CD when you get a chance. You will not be disappointed. And if you’re lucky enough to be in an area where London After Midnight is performing live, you will not want to miss it. Join the r/evolution!
